Horsetail, or equisetum, is a group of grass plants from the Equisetaceae family, a plant family that has been around for about 400 million years. Because of this, horsetail has been deemed as a “living fossil,” because its existence dates back even before the dinosaurs.
Horsetail is used for
"fluid retention" (edema),
kidney and bladder stones,
urinary tract infections,
the inability to control urination (incontinence), and
general disturbances of the kidney and bladder.
