The gut can be said to be the digestive tract or a portion of it, especially the intestine or stomach.

Moving further, there are various reasons for health issues that lead back to gut health in youths and young adults primarily within the age range of 18-35 and sometimes it covers the range of 19 to 36 years of age.   1. The food you eat contributes majorly to the making up of bacteria in your gut. Food choices are common causes of heartburn, bloating, and constipation. If you experience these symptoms, start using a food diary to see if there are links between your symptoms and certain foods. Avoid fried foods and consume alcohol and caffeine in moderation, as they are not healthy in the long run. If you keep having gastrointestinal problems despite making wise food choices, consult your doctor.

  2. The nature of your birth also contributes to your gut health. A study has revealed that babies that are delivered through the vagina grow up to have more variants of microbiomes when compared to those born through C-section.

  3. The kind of environment you grow up in also matters a lot. Hecht once said that we are way too clean a society. The more you get exposed to your environment, the more you strengthen your microbiomes. It helps establish a healthy gut.

  4. Antibiotics can wipe out both bad and good germs in the gut. Avoid taking antibiotics for conditions such as common colds or sore throats. These illnesses are usually due to viral infections that do not respond to antibiotics anyway.

  5. Adequate sleep is essential for gut health. It is not uncommon for people with disturbed sleep to suffer from nausea, bloating, constipation, and other digestive concerns.
